インターネットなどのネットワーク上にある組織を、国､組織の種類などの管理範囲で区切ったもの。区切りにつけられた名前をドメイン名という。
たとえば、インターネット上のホームページの住所を示す｢http://infosenderweb.jp/」という表記のうち､「masar21.com」の部分をドメイン名またはドメインネームと呼ぶ｡
